Hear from artist Tom Jones about his work and practice on the final day of the exhibition (Not) At Home. A member of the Ho-Chunk Nation, Tom Jones has a long career of photography that centers his people as subjects. Disrupting the lineage of photography by those such as Charles Curtis, outsiders looking in, Jones creates photos that celebrate Ho-Chunk community. He has also created series that explore the traditional lands of the Ho-Chunk people and how those spaces have been taken, disturbed, or encroached upon. In the exhibition, are included works from two of his series: one called Sacred Spaces and the other called The Wisconsin Dells- An altered Ho-Chunk Landscape. This talk is offered in conjunction with the exhibition (Not) At Home on display at the Anderson Gallery from September 10th-October 18th. Talk generously sponsored by an anonymous donor.Talk will be held in the Harmon Fine Arts Center in Room 336. Free parking is available on 25th St. The Anderson Gallery will be open before and after the talk from 12-4pm.
