About this Event
James Carey, Shank Henry, and Adam Allen approach portraiture through three distinct artistic voices, each grounded in a shared respect for people and community. Their photographs explore identity, culture, and lived experience with care and intention. Together with the stories beside them, these portraits invite viewers to see each person not simply as a subject, but as art in themselves.
These artists will speak at the Southeast Museum of Photography about their works featured in the exhibition Art Becomes Us, featuring more than 70 portraits that explore identity, resilience, beauty, culture, and the stories behind the people we encounter.
