About this Event
Before dipping brushes into paint, young artists discover the life and legacy of Yayoi Kusama, the legendary Japanese contemporary artist celebrated for her immersive, pattern-driven masterpieces. Children investigate how Kusama began drawing her iconic polka dots during her childhood in Japan, using patterns as a creative outlet to map out her worldview. They discover why she was deeply drawn to pumpkins, viewing them as humorous, warm, and comforting shapes. Children explore how Kusama uses patterns to create an "infinity effect" and apply her techniques to their take-home project.
