A facilitated, in-person group critique where artists share creative work and get constructive feedback from fellow artists.
About this Event

Join us for a monthly Community Critique Circle that provides essential access to a supportive and structured process for giving and receiving feedback on your creative practice. Whether you're developing new work, facing creative challenges, or seeking fresh perspectives, this facilitated space offers artists the rare opportunity to engage in constructive dialogue with other artists who understand the creative process. Referencing the proven framework of Critical Response Process®, you'll learn how to articulate your artistic intentions, ask meaningful questions about creative work, and provide and receive feedback that deepens your practice and advances your work.

What to Expect

Each session features two presenting artists (45 minutes each) who share their works in progress for critical feedback and dialogue through a facilitated and structured critique process. Through the supportive framework referencing Liz Lerman's Critical Response Process®, participants develop skills for respectful and constructive creative critique while building their professional networks within the local creative community.

Facilitator

Doza Mendoza (they/them) is a Santa Fe based artist, facilitator, and intimacy coordinator for the film and television industry. Their work seeks to build bridges across cultures of authority, gender, race, class, sexuality, and intersectional identities, with respect and empowerment for everyone involved. With degrees from both Stanford University (BA Communication, BA Film and Media Studies) and the University of Southern California (MA Communication Management), Doza delves deeply into communication strategies that seek to restore connections to work through miscommunications and resolve conflict. As a facilitator for art critiques at SFAI, they are centered in guiding participants through value-based feedback for an uplifting creative impact.

Who Should Attend

Artists at any stage of their career working in any medium: visual arts, performance, writing, multimedia, and beyond. Whether you're developing new work and need feedback, want to strengthen your critique skills, or seek to build connections within the local arts community, this circle offers a supportive space for growth and dialogue.

These facilitated monthly sessions provide an opportunity to gain constructive and practical feedback on your works in progress.
