PERSONAE | Portraiture Suspended Between Reality and Imagination
Space Untitled Art Gallery invites you to the opening of PERSONAE, a new solo exhibition by Anthony Ardavin—and the unveiling of an exciting new chapter in his artistic journey.
Inspired by John Singer Sargent’s intimate portraits of friends and loved ones, Ardavin turns his attention toward a single recurring muse. For the first time, the figure is no longer a supporting element within his surrealist worlds: he becomes the main event.
PERSONAE reveals a courageous new direction in Ardavin’s work through changes in style, subject and format. Moving from surrealism toward realism and embracing larger-scale canvases, the artist explores the human form with greater intimacy, presence and emotional depth.
Across the series, the same subject inhabits different identities, emotions and imagined realities. Each painting tells a distinct story while introducing an entirely new visual vocabulary to Ardavin’s practice.
