This two-hour group workshop offers an introduction to Arts Psychotherapy and a chance to experience some of the ways creative approaches can support reflection and self-exploration.

We’ll begin with a gentle check-in, where we’ll introduce ourselves and share any information that feels relevant to how you’d like to take part in the session. We’ll then spend some time getting to know and explore the art materials, using a creative prompt focused on exploring who you are.

Following this, there will be an opportunity to share your experience in pairs or small groups, before coming back together as a whole group for reflections and then a closing check-out. While this is a group taster rather than a therapy session, it will give you an insight into how Arts Psychotherapy can work and, hopefully, offer some thoughts, feelings or perspectives that you can take away with you and reflect on afterwards.

The group will be kept small, with no more than 10 participants, to create a supportive and welcoming environment where everyone has space to participate in a way that feels comfortable for them.

Please note:

About the Facilitator

Gemma is a queer Integrative Arts Psychotherapist with experience working across the NHS, third sector and private practice.

She is particularly interested in working with people who are exploring questions around identity, navigating change and transition, or finding new ways to make sense of their experiences. As a queer therapist, Gemma values creating spaces where different identities, experiences and ways of being can be explored with curiosity, openness and self-compassion.

Gemma's practice brings together talking therapy and creative approaches, including visual arts, clay and movement. I specialise in exploring how creating can help us express things that can sometimes be difficult to put into words, and offer new ways of understanding ourselves and our experiences.
