September Theme: LOOKING BACK TO PUSH FORWARD
Featured Performer: BIG BAILEY
Tamell “Big” Bailey dreamed of being the world’s strongest man, an Olympic thrower, and an architect; but instead, he built a career throwing words and lifting spirits. He is a poet, hip-hop artist, audio engineer, videographer, and full-time father. Bailey has just become a voting member of the GRAMMYs Recording Academy for the Class of 2026. He owns and operates an Information Technology support business named “Tamell’s Tech Support,” utilizing his Master of Science in Information Technology degree and over 20 years of experience in the I.T. field.
Bailey spreads humor, motivation, and positivity "like strawberry jam on toast." Voted Best Male Poet (IHA Awards 2025, 2024, 2022) and Best Album winner (Fairfield Music Awards), he co-hosts and curates “Art of Words” Open Mic monthly at the Aiken County Public Library; and drops rhymes like dad jokes, consistently and with enthusiasm. Bailey is also a host & videographer for the Southern Fried Poetry Slam, as well as host & bookroom manager for the National Federation of State Poetry Societies' Blackberry Peach Poetry Slam. He has been a consistent volunteer and staple performer for Tamika "Georgia Me" Harper's Tamika Fest.
When not rocking mics, he’s geeking out over Seinfeld and other sitcoms, bowling, pineapples, and the purr of a happy cat.
