This outdoor 2 hour workshop is a bit unique...

It focus on the art of storytelling as a means to change deeply held subconscious beliefs.

  • Are you struggling in life right now?
  • Would you like to know how to make actual, real changes happen on the subconscious level but feel at a loss?
  • Have you been trying hard to get the results you desire in your life, but feel powerless to make changes ?
  • Or maybe you have been taking action but have just met with delays, challenges and blockages that make you feel like giving up?
  • Have you been trying to change beliefs about yourself and not got very far?

If this is you, then read on...

Human beings are natural storytellers because our brains evolved to turn raw experiences and facts into shared narratives for survival and connection.

Why We Tell Stories

  • Evolutionary Survival: Early humans used stories to pass down warnings about danger, share hunting tips, and explain the natural world before writing existed.
  • Brain Synchronization: When someone tells a good story, brain activity in the listener matches the speaker's brain activity in a process called neural coupling.
  • Building Empathy: Stories activate emotional and sensory parts of the brain, making it easier to feel what others feel.
  • Making Meaning: We use narratives to understand our own lives, remember events, and create a shared sense of community.

So we will deep dive into understanding how our ability to tell stories is not only important to developing our own sense of self , but also connecting with the world and others.

🔍WHO IS THIS EVENT SUITABLE FOR?

Adult men and women over 18s that are intent on doing some deep dive work within the 2 hours and are willing to embrace the process of change in motion, in a less than ordinary, creative way. So if you have tried many different methods to change and even done therapy and found that change was hard or not permanent, then this workshop outdoors in nature might be suitable for you. Why?

⭐️For real, permanent change to happen we need to identify first of all what is in the way of the desired changes happening. We need to know where we are and where we want to go in life. We start by listening to the "story" we tell about ourselves and our lives. Some journaling and group sharing will be involved with whatever most people feel comfortable in sharing with others.

⭐️The 2 hour workshop will focus (in a very interactive way) how we can see that change is entirely possible by changing how we choose to interpret the meaning of what happens to us and also what the world and others tell us is possible.

Our subjective experience of who we are feels absolute, yet psychological research shows that our self-concept is frequently flawed and shaped by external narratives.

Why Our Self-Perception Can Be Wrong

  • Borrowed Definitions: We often adopt labels given to us by parents, caretakers, or peers during childhood, mistaking their projections for our core identity.
  • Trauma Narratives: Painful past events can trick the brain into believing a story of unworthiness or brokenness, defining us by our wounds rather than our true potential.
  • Defensive Self-Models: People build rigid mental boxes to feel safe and in control, ignoring or rationalizing the "messy bits" that contradict how they wish to see themselves.
  • Ego Protection: Many people conflate being wrong with being a bad person, making self-reflection feel like a threat to their survival.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN AT THIS EVENT?

So the work we will be doing is to start seeing how to navigate what feels like a life long build up of being a certain way, and start seeing the possibility of making changes and coming up with a contigency plan to be able to create these changes to live an exciting life, in full colour.

That doesn't mean hard times are a thing of the past, it just means that you, as a person will be able to feel autonomous to know yourself and your capacity to affect real, do-able change in your life. This is not :

  • about Affirmations,
  • Positive Thinking
  • Magical thinking or denying reality
  • Law of Attraction

Or anything similar to alot of content available that allows you to part with your time and money, and gives you nothing concrete and of value, in return. This work is creative, dynamic and exciting and based on Neuroscience. It's the sort of work I do with clients on a one- to- one basis. This workshop will give all attendees an idea of how to continue the work afterwards with easy to apply principles, whether attendees choose to do the work themselves or with someone like myself, on a one to one basis.

Attendees will hopefully walk away with a plan and an idea of how to make changes in their subsconscious mind, especially with beliefs that have, up until now, been hard to shift!

The ethos of this group is that all attendees need to assume responsibility for their own experience within the group setting. This group is not being run by a therapist, but a and someone who works with clients to help them thrive and reshape their lives. While boundaries and common group run guidelines will be followed to run the group safely, this group is not for anyone who is suffering from undiagnosed or diagnosed severe mental health problems. This event is not a substitute for professional psychological help, but rather to be used in conjunction with therapy or any other modality . If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch and discuss further.

👍This event will take place in a gorgeous nature setting in Beddington/Wallington, in the Croydon area in South London.
