Join us at Upwards for Art Goes to the Movies, our film series exploring artists, art history, creative movements, and the people and ideas behind the art. This month’s screening is Krzysztof Wodiczko: Projections, Derek May’s 1991 documentary examining the work of artist Krzysztof Wodiczko, known for taking his art beyond gallery and museum walls and projecting large-scale images onto public buildings and monuments.
The film explores Wodiczko’s approach to art as a social contract and looks at how he uses public spaces to address political and social issues. His provocative projections have transformed buildings and public spaces around the world, from London’s Trafalgar Square to Zion Square in Jerusalem.
Come watch the film, discover an artist who challenges where art belongs and what it can do, and spend an evening with other people interested in art and creativity.
