Join us at Upwards Art for Art Goes to the Movies, our film series exploring artists, creative practices, cultural movements, and the people and ideas behind them. This month’s screening is For a Song, Tahani Rached’s 2001 documentary inviting us into the world of choral music and the joy of singing together.
The film follows the members of L’Ensemble vocal d’Outremont, a choir bringing together men and women of different ages and backgrounds through a shared love of song. They sing everywhere—at home, in the car, and throughout their everyday lives—but it’s when their voices come together that something special happens.
For a Song explores music as both a personal and collective experience, celebrating the connections, joy, and sense of community that can grow from creating together.
Come watch the film and spend an evening with others interested in creativity, community, and the arts.
