About this Event
Gallery Intussen is pleased to present: “Observable conditions: It’s not all black and white” by Kirilla Mihai.
This series stems from a core belief: painting requires contrast.
It is the tension between light and dark that creates drama, narrative, and meaning.
Here, the intensified black background and minimal color focus carry that weight.
Kirilla employs a hybrid technique merging drypoint etching and brushwork on a surface of charcoal dust thinned with turpentine.
Using charcoal and acrylic, the work articulates a fundamental concept:
Light vs dark. Knowledge vs ignorance. Good vs evil.
Color appears within a black-and-white environment, its autonomy shaped entirely by what surrounds it.
Once this framework is understood, the final step unfolds — the spiritual, where interpretation becomes universal.
