Looking closely is where creativity begins. Join us for a series of inspiring monthly art sessions designed especially for home educated children aged 7 to 11.Taking inspiration from Living Labyrinths: Art & Fungi and RAMM’s permanent collections, each two-hour workshop invites young artists to explore the museum through observation, discussion, drawing and creative experimentation.
The activities are tailored specifically for this age group by encouraging curiosity, creativity and confidence through playful exploration and making.
These sessions encourage children to use observation and technical drawing as a starting point for developing their own ideas and artistic responses. Through sketchbook work, mixed media and a range of creative processes, discover how artists use looking, questioning and making to explore the world around them.
Sessions include time in the galleries alongside practical studio activities, helping children develop confidence in observation, creative thinking and self-expression.
Sessions are led by Liese Webley, an artist and art educator who has many years experience working with children and young people. The sessions provide a fun, welcoming and supportive environment where every child is encouraged to explore, experiment and develop their own creative voice. Suitable for complete beginners as well as young people who already enjoy making art.
Adults are welcome to drop off and collect at the end of the session after filling in a consent form. Parents and carers are also welcome to stay if their child would benefit from additional support, including SEND.
