Armenian Film Festival Australia (AFFA) celebrates its 10th anniversary milestone by bringing its national festival to Perth for the first time ever. This milestone marks an exciting new chapter in AFFA's evolution as it invites Perth audiences to discover acclaimed Armenian and Armenian diaspora cinema.
Following successful festival screenings in Sydney and Adelaide, AFFA’s Perth programme will take place at Event Cinemas Innaloo from 24–25 October, building on the momentum of the nationwide festival. The expansion to Perth will spotlight some of the festival’s outstanding films as it extends its reach to new audiences to celebrate Armenian cinema and culture across Australia.
Highlights of the Perth festival include:
- Family favourites: The Perth programme kicks off with a screening of Poqr Mher (Mher Junior) for audiences of all ages to immerse themselves in.
- Crowd-pleasing comedy: One of the festival’s standout films, A Winter's Song, the first English-language romantic-comedy filmed in Armenia.
- Award-winning cinema: Aurora's Sunrise, the multi-award-winning documentary that features the incredible true story of a genocide survivor who becomes a Hollywood movie star. Highly regarded as a standout example of contemporary Armenian cinema and previously Armenia’s official selection for Best International Feature Film category at the 95th Academy Awards in 2023.
Audiences in Perth can look forward to a diverse selection of films celebrating Armenian stories, history and identity, with screenings offering opportunities to discover acclaimed works and voices from Armenian and diaspora cinema.
