ARGENTINE TANGO: CONNECTION, MUSIC & MOVEMENTDiscover the beautiful world of Argentine Tango with Julie and Peter, who between them have over 25 years’ experience studying and dancing this captivating social dance.
Unlike stage tango, Argentine Tango is not about high kicks and dramatic lifts. It is an intimate, elegant and wonderfully improvised dance, where partners listen and respond to one another through movement, connection and the glorious music of the great tango orchestras of the 1920s–1950s.
Julie and Peter began their tango journey in Malvern and have studied with some of Argentina’s leading maestros, including Dante Culcuy, Pablo Verón, Chicho Frumboli, Juliana Sepulveda and Corina De La Rosa. They are the founders of Tango Monmouth, a friendly and inclusive tango community welcoming dancers from beginners to experienced movers.
Come and experience this beautiful art form for yourself. Julie and Peter will begin with an improvised demonstration, followed by a 1½-hour workshop exploring the fundamentals of Argentine Tango, with a particular focus on connection, musicality and sharing the dance with your partner.
No previous dance experience necessary. Come as a couple or on your own. All are welcome.
Wear comfortable clothing and shoes that allow you to pivot easily.
Ages 18+.
