How to get to our new venueIf you haven’t visited us yet, we’re located underneath Barking Riverside Station. When you come down the stairs, take the exit on the right, then turn right again. You should hear the music and see us, we’re just a one-minute walk away.Are You For Reel? is a new film club from One Room, designed to bring the joy of independent cinema and collective viewing experiences to Barking and beyond.
Curated by film enthusiast and One Room Member Coco, the monthly screenings seek to bring together local cinephiles and spark deeper conversations about identity, relationships, culture and the worlds we live in.
Each event in the programme will consist of a film screening, guided discussion and safe-space for audiences to connect not just with the films but with one another.
About the film
Cactus Pears (2025), Rohan Kanawade’s debut feature film and winner of the Sundance Grand Jury Prize takes a look at 30-something year old Anand who returns to his rural ancestral village from Mumbai. Observing the traditional 10-day mourning of his father’s death, he has the opportunity to reconnect with an old friend, Balya.
