The Bonfouca Museum & Research Center with the State of Louisiana Department of Archeology, presents ARCHEOLOGY DAY: THE TCHEFUNCTA SITE at 4:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 30, 2026 at 1827 Front St., in the Slidell Train Depot. The free presentation, includes a free, family-friendly, hands-on display. An archeological dig at the Tchefuncta site in St. Tammany Parish, uncovered artifacts older than the pyramids. It also held more than 47,000 examples of the first widespread use of pottery in the lower Mississippi region. Shells from these mounds were later dug up and used to surface streets throughout the parish. More at www.bonfouca-alive.com.
