After the first session, we will continue to make up book blocks and will add the "shelving" borders between the rows of books and attach wadding. We will also make a start on adding applique to your quilt.
Following the class, you will need to take your quilt away to add as much or as little applique as you want. You will also need to add the backing and bind your quilt. For this reason, although only basic techniques are required, this class is marked up as "intermediate".
Tea, coffee, soft drinks and homemade cake are included. This is an all-day course, so you will need to either bring a packed lunch, or buy something from a local shop on the day.
Skill level: Intermediate
As for all of our sewing workshops, you must be able to use a sewing machine with a reasonable level of skill. On that basis, you should have either completed an “introduction to sewing machines” session, or have used a sewing machine yourself to undertake simple tasks like joining two pieces of fabric. If you have not done this, this course will not be suitable.
Although basic techniques will be used and full tuition will be given, there is quite a lot to get through in this class. As it is unlikely that you will finish backing the quilt on the day, you will also need to have the skills to do this independently at home. Alternatively, if you attend one of our Sew Social sessions, you can be given additional advice and support then.
Terms and conditions:
Our workshops are open to individuals aged fourteen and upwards. However, a responsible adult must remain on site at all time with minors.
Full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your place.
Any further details, along with anything you need to bring with you, will be sent out via email in advance of the scheduled date.
All workshops will begin promptly at the scheduled time, so please ensure that you arrive early enough to get yourself settled in and have a coffee and cake before the class is due to start.
Cancellations:
For cancellations with more than two weeks’ notice, a refund will be given, less a 25% administration fee. Cancellations with less two weeks’ notice are non-refundable, unless we are able to fill your place.
All workshops will clearly be marked as being suitable for beginners, intermediate or advanced. When booking a workshop, you are responsible for assessing your own abilities. Happy Hare cannot be held responsible if you book the wrong level of workshop or do not read the description of the workshop correctly. A refund will not be given for booking a workshop which you later feel is not at the right level for you, unless the cancellation is made more than two weeks’ prior to the scheduled date.
Should we need to cancel a class due to circumstance beyond our control or limited numbers, a full refund will be given. Alternatively, you will be given the option to book onto another workshop.
Please note: when making a booking it is assumed that our terms and conditions have been read and approved.
