Join us for an afternoon of tree talks and tours from our resident experts. Learn all about grafting, family trees, the history of cider making, pasteurisation, and taste some unique apple varieties.
The humble apple has been a staple in many of our diets for centuries, but how are changing climates and pests affecting our orchards?
This year has been a pretty stressful year for our orchards, due to drought and the impact of orchard ermine moth caterpillars, but we will have some apples to press, and we encourage you to bring your own for pressing with our hydropress, and some bottles to take juice home with you.
There will also be refreshments, including cake!

The tree nursery is mainly flat ground but is mostly grassy and uneven, which can be difficult for wheelchair users. The only steps are to a portacabin which serves as our library and archive, to our compost toilet and to our toolsheds. The polytunnels are accessible and the Hackney Marshes Centre opposite has an accessible toilet, though opening times vary. There is seating at various places around the tree nursery.
