Celebrating 50 years of ANZDATA Registry's impact. Join us in Adelaide, 17 February 2027.Join clinicians, researchers, data scientists and trainees for a full day of hands-on data science, working in teams to tackle a real clinical question using ANZDATA data.
Powered by Dell's cutting-edge GB10 machine, teams will spend the day exploring the data before pitching their findings, with the winning team announced the following day at the 50th Anniversary Symposium.
How does it work?
At the start of the day, we'll present the dataset and the clinical question teams will be tackling. From there, teams have the rest of the day to explore the data, test ideas, and build toward a solution.
Late in the afternoon, each team pitches their findings to a panel, with the winning team announced at the end of the day. They will also have an opportunity to present their winning presentation during Day 1 of the ANZDATA 50th Anniversary Symposium.
Who participates?
The Datathon is designed for a mix of skillsets, academic and clinical researchers, clinicians, registry managers, statisticians, data managers, and data analysts or scientists, as well as PhD students and advanced trainees.
Teams work best with a blend of clinical and technical expertise.
What skills do I need?
No single skillset is required. Some familiarity with data analysis (e.g. R, Python, Stata, or similar tools) is helpful, but clinical knowledge and curiosity are just as valuable.
Teams are typically made up of people with complementary strengths, so come ready to contribute what you know and learn from your teammates.
