You are invited to come and join the Friends of ANZAC Cottage at ANZAC Cottage for your commemoration on ANZAC Day. With the Cottage’s over a hundred years of association with ANZAC Day, borne out of the horrific landing at Gallipoli, the legacy of this building is apparent in ANZAC Day tributes.
The Cottage is open from 4 pm, with the opportunity to browse the Cottage and the Field of Remembrance, and for children to participate in activities that build their understanding and awareness of the significance of this day.
Then, from 5 pm, the inspiring Sunset Service begins with a stirring performance from the Maori Cultural Group, Ngaru Pou, reminding us of the “NZ” in ANZAC.
This service is free to all attendees and offers an opportunity to attend the last ANZAC Service on the Australian Mainland, held at the first World War I memorial built in Western Australia. Our thanks to the Heritage Council of Western Australia and the National Trust for their support and encouragement.
ANZAC Cottage is located at 38 Kalgoorlie Street, Mount Hawthorn and more information can be sought by calling Anne on 0411445582 or emailing [email protected]
