Pema Chödrön celebrated her 90th birthday on July 14th, and like many other ninety year olds : ), she is celebrating her birthday by publishing a brand new book! Another Kind of Freedom is a detailed and wonderfully accessible commentary on the 1976 classic The Myth of Freedom and the Way of Meditation by her main teacher, and founder of Shambhala, Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche.
Pema says, “These were the teachings that inspired me the most in my early years of practicing Buddhism. They continue to inspire me now and have influenced all the teachings I have given over the years.”
In this four week course, we will read and reflect on the first four sections of Another Kind of Freedom and listen to curated excerpts of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche’s original recorded talks from 1971 to 1974 that were used to create The Myth of Freedom and the Way of Meditation fifty years ago. We will also reflect on the life and work of Pema Chödrön and the powerful yet controversial teacher, Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche.
Wednesday evenings, October 21st - November 11th, 7:00 - 8:45 pm. In person and on Zoom.
