About this Event
The Schulman Lecture Series invites prominent scholars, community practitioners, and students to discuss issues on race and justice.
Dr. Felicia Arriaga from the Marxe School of Public and International Affairs at Baruch College will be visiting Northeastern to discuss the history of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the expanding scope of its operations. Since 2024, ICE has received nearly $85 billion in funding, compared to previous budgets of approximately $10 billion. This increase has been accompanied by expanded personnel, greater incentives for local collaboration, and limited accountability structures. Dr. Arriaga will examine how these developments have shaped ICE operations and explore how local communities and governments are responding to the current landscape of immigration enforcement.
