✨Calling all Community Tenders, Ritual Keepers, Guardians of Mystery and Patrons of Beauty ✨Anima Theater of the Feminine Underground is coming back to Center Stage Theater this October 23-24
Want to be part of the magic?
There's of course the magic that happens on stage, but behind every Anima production are months of creating, writing, choreographing, and rehearsing, along with a whole lot of expenses that make live theater possible.
What you might not know is that theater is expensive. After theater and equipment rentals, tech labor and production costs, if we sell out two nights, we basically break even.
What you also might not know is that the artists of Anima are not paid for their time or performances. Nor have I, its founder and producer, ever profited from Anima. Artists spend their own money on all of their costumes, props and audio/visuals, often going into debt creating their pieces.
We want to be able to pay our director and stage manager. We want to at least reimburse artists for their expenses and ideally pay them each $100 a show, which is just a small token of appreciation for their time, energy and talent.
Since 2017, Anima Ritual Theater has served our beloved Santa Barbara community by creating containers for collective feeling and metabolizing cultural shadow through story. We help restore the ancient practice of communal witnessing and protect mystery and depth in a world that has become fragmented, overstimulated and spiritually malnourished. In every performance, we make space for grief, joy, tenderness, humor, rage and beauty to exist side by side.
The artists of Anima have carried this sacred work for nearly a decade. Now we our community to help us carry it forward.
If you believe women’s voices deserve to be heard…
If you believe art can transform culture
If you believe we need spaces of vulnerable beauty, where people can feel and heal together, and remember our connection to one another…
Help us make Anima happen. ❤️
Here's 3 ways you can help:
1) Consider making a TAX DEDUCTIBLE donation to our crowdfunding campaign (Note: We switched our crowdfunding platform from GoFundMe to Fractured Atlas, which is a really cool artist 501(c)(3) out of New York that is now fiscally sponsoring Anima 🥳!)
