Join us for the 11th year of Angas Finniss Waterbug Bioblitzes! In this hands-on event we'll get out and about in the field collecting and sorting macroinvertebrates (waterbug) samples and taking water quality measurements from sites across the Angas and Finniss catchments (Macclesfield, Strathalbyn, Meadows, Prospect Hill and Paris Creek).
This is a great chance to learn from scientists, ecologists, volunteers and landholders in the region who are dedicated to protecting our precious creeklines. You are welcome to come out in the field or stay back in the ‘lab’ analysing the water samples.
Due to being around waterways, this session is best suited to children aged 10 and above. For families, an adult will need to supervise any children attending.
Please note if you are coming out in the field a reasonable level of mobility and fitness is required as some sites may involve walking a reasonable distance on uneven ground.
Time: 8:45am - 4:00pm. Stay for the full day, or part day. If coming for half a day, please let us know when you register to help with planning.
Cost: Free with lunch provided, please advise of any dietary requirements when registering.
Location: Strathalbyn Natural Resource Centre, 6 Catherine Street, Strathalbyn. We will meet at the centre then head out into the field in teams.
What to bring: Please wear closed in shoes, wear appropriate clothes for the weather and be SunSmart. BYO water bottle and coffee keep cup; we will have refills available.
