EN bellowArmen – armėnų diasporos muzikinės kultūros tyrimas. Performansą sudaro 42 minučių kelionė taksi, kurios metu kūrinys iš kasetės leidžiamas per automobilio garso sistemą. Armen paremtas Arutiuniano vaikystės prisiminimais iš Armėnijos: atvykstančius į Jerevano Zvartnoco oro uostą pasitikdavo iš senų „Mercedes-Benz“ taksi kolonėlių visu garsumu kriokianti muzika. Pasitelkdamas asmeninę ** a. aštuntojo–dešimtojo dešimtmečių popmuzikos kasečių, plokštelių ir VHS įrašų kolekciją, Arutiunianas remiksuoja ir iš naujo permąsto šioje muzikoje glūdinčią asmeninę ir kultūrinę atmintį. Armen trukmė sutampa su bendra kasetės A ir B pusių trukme. Pasivažinėjimas taksi po Klaipėdą ir jos apylinkes įgauna psichogeografinės kelionės bruožų ir virsta hipnotiška diasporos atminties, istorijos spragų ir garsinių pėdsakų refleksija.

Armen is a study of vernacular diasporic Armenian music. The performance consists of a 42-minute cab ride, where the piece is played from an audio cassette through the taxi’s sound system. It draws upon Arutiunian’s childhood memories of Armenia, where the sounds of blaring music from aged Mercedes-Benz taxi speakers greeted arrivals at Zvartnots Airport in Yerevan. Using a personal collection of cassettes, vinyl records, and VHS tapes of popular music from the 1970s to the 1990s, Arutiunian remixes and reimagines the personal and cultural memory embedded in this music. Armen’s duration is equal to the combined lengths of the cassette’s A and B sides. The cab ride, which takes place in and around Klaipeda, evokes the passage of a psychogeographic journey, a hypnotic speculation into diasporic memories, historic omissions, and sonic absences.
