Hurricane Helene caused widespread loss of canopy trees throughout Spartanburg County in 2024. Andrews Farm Park in the city of Spartanburg lost many mature trees and local residents requested assistance in replanting the site to eventually restore thecanopy.
The Spartanburg Men’s Garden Club will have a workday on November 7th to plant fifteen trees to help restore the canopy within the park. Trees are being provided by the Noble Tree Foundation of Spartanburg.
Bartlett Tree Experts, a local arboriculture company, will also participate in the workday by providing crews and equipment to prune several feature trees that were damaged by Helene.
Local resident and the public are invited to attend to learn about proper planting techniques, pruning and other aspects of plant health care. Master Gardeners and plant experts will be on site to provide demonstrations of planting and plant health care and answer any questions.
The Spartanburg Men’s Garden Club will also have free
seedlings for anyone interested in adding a tree to their landscape.
