About this Event
Join us for Motte & Bailey’s 3rd Annual Live Re-Enactment of Orson Welles’ 1938 Radio Drama based on H. G. Well’s The War of the Worlds this Friday, October 30th @ 7:30pm, hosted by Blue Pit BBQ in Hampden!
It's a quiet night on the east coast of America in October of 1938, when reports of mysterious activity on the planet Mars are reported over the radio by scientists in New Jersey. Shortly afterward what unfolds is a harrowing tale of a real time invasion as told live over the radio. We faithfully recreate this drama with voice actors and live foley & sound right before your very eyes. Originally broadcast on October 30th, 1938 on the CBS Radio Network, The Mercury Theatre performed an adaptation of The War of the Worlds in such a realistic “breaking news” format, that it convinced many listeners that an actual Martian Invasion was taking place - infamously causing a public panic! Well nothing to panic about for our live re-enactment, because it’s free!
Featuring Lance Bankerd, Emily Classen, Terrance Fleming, Hannah Fogler, J Purnell Hargrove, Bobby Harris, Lorraine Imwold, Jess Miller, Jessica Preactor, and Donna Ibale as our Emcee. Admission is free, but donations are gratefully accepted. RSVP via our Eventbrite is encouraged but not required - walk-ins and large groups more than welcome! Upstairs seating opens at 7pm.
