Join Charlottesville Ballet, Resident Dance Company of the Academy Center of the Arts, for "Salute," an unforgettable afternoon of music, movement, and heartfelt tribute. Celebrating the courage, sacrifice, and service of our nation's veterans, this inspiring performance offers free admission to active duty military members and veterans. Featuring the athleticism and artistry of Charlottesville Ballet's professional dancers, the concert explores themes of patriotism, community, and connection through a diverse program of dynamic works. Highlights include Sara Clayborne's Valhalla, set to an original composition by veteran composer David Brent, featuring electric guitar and a compelling fusion of classical and contemporary styles. Also returning to the stage is the audience favorite A Military Fanfare by choreographer Mary Hein, a beloved dance educator and Army Ranger spouse. Set to a stirring medley of anthems representing each branch of the U.S. Armed Forces, this vibrant work celebrates service with precision, power, and pride.
Whether you are honoring a loved one, celebrating military service, or simply enjoying an afternoon of exceptional artistry, "Salute" offers a meaningful experience that recognizes the sacrifices of our veterans while bringing the community together through the power of the arts.
We are proud to offer complimentary admission to all active duty military members and veterans. Please bring a valid military ID to the performance.
