JOIN US November 22 from 1pm to 3pm at St. Paul's CLUETT HALL in Garden City for the "Runner in Red" Resiliency Workshop.
We're offering teens (both girls and boys) in Grades 7 to 12 a fun, informative and engaging session. You'll learn how to identify resiliency strengths from sports and physical activity - including values and skills you've developed - and apply them to perform at your peak, achieve goals and meet challenges in sports, school - and life.
ALSO, we're inviting PARENT/MENTORS to attend and provide feedback in the small group discussions. (Parents/Guests, you'll be supporting the teens and learning lessons you can take home to apply to enhance your family’s resiliency.)

This video shows how the workshop works to teach resiliency through sports:
The workshop will be conducted by Tom Murphy, author of "Runner in Red," a Boston Marathon mystery novel and founder of the Garden City-based Runner in Red Foundation. The book explores the history of women's running and the "grit' of the pioneers who broke the gender barrier at Boston in the 1960s and opened the door for women in all sports today. The book raises funds to cure lung cancer.
We'll be offering $500 in prizes from Dick's Sporting Goods at the workshop.
Teens, feel free to tell your friends and invite them to join - again, space is limited so register early.
We're grateful to our supporters, including the Village of Garden City, Hilton Capital Management, Family and Children's Association, National Charity League, Macerich, Dick's and a group of leadership schools who are getting word out to their student/athletes.
