About this Event
The Kansas City Artists Coalition Lecture Series “Open to the Public” is about bringing people together — artists, educators, and community members — to share ideas, spark creativity, and start meaningful conversations. Each event opens up space to explore how art, music, movement, and creative thinking connect us, inspire us, and shape the life of our city. Whether you make art or simply love being around it, these talks invite everyone to be part of Kansas City’s creative story.

Joshua Heath Scott is the creator and president of JHS Pedals. His YouTube series, The JHS Show, has garnered millions of views from audiences spanning the globe. Josh is passionate about the history and stories surrounding guitar technology and teaches in collaboration with museums, companies, and universities. Often considered the historical authority on guitar's sonic evolution from the sixties to the present day, Josh contributes his knowledge to historical archive preservations, auction appraisals, documentaries, and more. JHS products have been used by artists including Coldplay, Wilco, John Mayer, Andy Timmons, Butch Walker, Madison Cunningham, Jessica Dobson and many more! JHS has also collaborated with industry legends such as BOSS, Electro Harmonix, and Keeley Electronics.
Born just a few miles from Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Josh co-founded several bands before diving into a career as a live and studio guitarist, songwriter, studio engineer, and producer. After fixing a broken guitar pedal in 2007, Josh's natural curiosity pulled him into the rabbit hole of electrical engineering and circuit design, and JHS Pedals was born.
Josh has compiled the most comprehensive catalog of historical artifacts, interviews, and published works related to guitar technology history to date and is using these resources to write several books. As a writer for Guitar Magazine (UK) and other guitar related books, Josh's studies and findings have been printed and published worldwide. Additionally, The JHS Show often expands into documentaries on musical technology, invention, and music history.
