What does motherhood really look like in America today?Join us at Rivermont Presbyterian Church for a screening of No Country for Mothers, a documentary that examines the pressures facing American mothers and the cultural narratives that too often turn mothers against one another instead of asking what families actually need.
Following activist and Moms First founder Reshma Saujani, the film explores familiar divides, including working moms vs. stay-at-home moms and “girlboss” vs. “tradwife,” while asking a larger question: What if many of the struggles we treat as individual problems are actually problems we need to address together? The film calls attention to structural challenges including child care, paid leave, and other forms of support for families.
After the film, we’ll have time for a brief facilitated conversation about what resonated, the realities families face in our own community, and what meaningful support for mothers and caregivers can look like.
This isn’t just an event for mothers. Parents, partners, grandparents, caregivers, friends, neighbors, and anyone who cares about supporting families are welcome.
Children are welcome, and nursery care will be available.
Come watch, listen, and be part of the conversation.
