About this Event
Join us for an inspiring evening in support of Bridges to New Life, featuring guest speaker, author, and Registered Clinical Counsellor Carrie DeJong, MC.
Carrie will share insights from her new book, Listening In: How Interoception Can Improve Your Mental and Emotional Health, exploring the fascinating connection between what we experience in our bodies and how we feel, think, and respond.
Our bodies are constantly sending us signals—of stress, emotion, hunger, fatigue, safety, and need. Interoception is our ability to notice and make sense of these internal signals. In this accessible and hopeful presentation, Carrie will explore how learning to listen to our bodies with greater curiosity and care can support emotional regulation, recovery, and overall well-being.
What to Expect
During the evening, Carrie will:
- Introduce the concept of interoception in a practical and easy-to-understand way
- Explore the connection between our internal body signals and emotional health
- Share insights about interoception and anxiety, addiction, recovery, and chronic stress
- Offer practical ways to become more aware of and responsive to what our bodies are communicating
- Share from her nearly 30 years of experience working in trauma, addiction, and mental health
There will also be an opportunity to hear more about Carrie’s new book and learn about the work of Bridges to New Life, which supports people as they move toward healthier, more hopeful lives.
Whether you are interested in mental health, recovery, counselling, personal growth, or simply learning more about how our bodies and emotions are connected, this evening offers an accessible opportunity to listen in and discover something new.
Supporting Bridges to New Life
This evening is also a fundraiser in support of Bridges to New Life. We will briefly share about Bridges and the work we do, and there will be an opportunity for those who wish to consider making a financial contribution to support this work.
Proceeds from books purchased at the event that evening will go to Bridges to New Life.
To help us plan for the evening and keep track of attendance, names will be collected when you register for the event.
