About this Event
Welcome the holiday season with Light of Redeeming Grace, Cal Lutheran’s annual Christmas concert celebration. The university’s choral ensembles and String Symphony come together for an inspiring evening of seasonal music, bringing together the richness of sacred choral traditions and the beauty of orchestral sound. This year’s program features works including Samuel Adler’s Rock of Ages (Ma’oz Tsur), Kyle Pederson’s Light Transforms the Darkness, Molly Ijames’s arrangement of The First Noel, and Michael John Trotta’s Veni, Veni Emmanuel, alongside beloved Christmas carols such as Hark! The Herald Angels Sing and Silent Night. The program will also offer opportunities for the audience to join in singing favorite hymns of the season.
Under the direction of Adán Fernández, DMA, interim director of choral activities for the 2026–2027 academic year, and Dr. Breanna Thornton, conductor of the String Symphony, Cal Lutheran’s musicians continue the university’s longstanding tradition of inspiring Christmas performances. Through music that celebrates hope, light, and the promise of redemption, this special evening invites audiences to pause, reflect, and share in the joy of the season.
This is always a popular concert, so please arrive early for convenient parking. Doors open one hour before the concert.
