Wendy Allen and Monica Hohimer are artists whose work arises out of a deep inner dive into the mystic.Wendy is primarily a fabric artist known for hand sewn and beaded fabric collages which come out of her yearning to capture the beauty of the One. Featured are her intricate hand sewn fabric mandalas, or cosmological maps of the universal forces. Her smaller creations, which she calls "Little Beauties", are composed of hand beaded creatures set in worlds which reflect the beauty and mystery of the natural world.
Monica works from intuitive uprisings to paint worlds inhabited by beings, crows and other creatures. These worlds take us into a sense of the mystical and surreal. Her work is deeply autobiographical, capturing the essence of her life's journey through cancer and back. Her painted visions reflect her love for, and active engagement with, the natural world and its creatures.
The show, "Into the Mystic" is co-presented by Staley Studios and Dim Art House.
