Have you ever wondered how Congress really works?
Join author Jerome Climer and political research analyst Chuck Rund for a two-part discussion about Congress, from its founding to today's challenges.
Rund will present historical and public opinion research in person, followed by Climer, who will join virtually to discuss his book, “Fixing Congress: Restoring Power to the People,” and possible reforms. Print and ebook copies are available for checkout at the library.
This program is offered at no charge and is open to the public. A library card is not required to participate.
Climer brings 40 years of experience working in Congress, including 20 years as a congressional staff member and five years on the House Republican leadership staff. He founded the Congressional Institute in 1987, serving as its president for 20 years, and later established the Public Governance Institute, both dedicated to congressional education and professional development. He also co-authored “Surviving Inside Congress,” a guide still used today by congressional staff and academic institutions.
Charles "Chuck" Rund is the past President of Charlton Research Company, Inc., of Grants Pass, a public policy and opinion research firm founded in 1986. Rund has spent decades researching public opinion and voter behavior. He served for 32 years as an election-night broadcast analyst for CBS News and has advised numerous national and state campaigns. Locally, he served as interim CEO of the Grants Pass & Josephine County Chamber of Commerce and helped lead its business retention and expansion research.
SCHEDULE:
