ARTS Southeast is pleased to present Figure/Ground, a Summer Group Exhibition of work by our community of Artist Supporters. The human figure has been a subject for artists for thousands of years, grounding us in who we are individually and collectively. From ancient cave paintings to contemporary questions of identity, authorship and representation, documenting ourselves and capturing the likenesses of others is deeply human. For this exhibition, artists were invited to submit figurative work in any medium. Whether traditional or alternative media, realism or abstraction, each work featured contemplates the human form. Featured Artists: Carmela Aliffi, Adrienne Berkland, Anna Falk, Joshua Gary, Alejandro Giraldo, Izzy Giusti, Allison Horner, Jazz Howington, Elena Jones, Nae’Keisha Jones, Ryan Madson, Debra Malschick, Holly Mathews, Crisley McCarson, Isaac McCaslin, Victoria Mercado-Lues, Patty Meriam, Melanie Mills, Ashutosh Rokade, Richard T. Scott, Livia Schuman, Stephanie Stella, Talia Sullivan, Jenna Watson, Roe Zaplinksi
Figure/Ground will be on display in The ARTS Southeast Supporter Gallery from May 21st – October 17th, 2026 and can be viewed during our gallery hours (Thurs – Sun, 12-5PM). There will be an Opening Reception on June 5th, 5 - 9PM and a Closing Reception on October 2nd, 5 - 9PM in conjunction with First Fridays in Starland. Learn more at artssoutheast.org/figure-ground.
