About this Event
To celebrate the Christmas season, we’ve decided against just showing some slightly obscure but still well-know season film or something... we’re instead bringing Christmas TO LIFE !
Poet/local historian/raconteur Derbhla McDermott will lead a walking tour around Belfast City Centre - soaking in the sights, sounds and stories of days gone by... the Belfast of Christmas Past... and we are very excited and honoured to be joined by special guest @abedehistory !!
The walking tour will last about 1.5 hours with no bathrooms along the route. Please wear comfortable shoes and your cosiest coat to maximise festive cheer.
We will then retreat to the Beanbag Cinema for a curated selection of film, archive & youtube clips about the landscape of Belfast Christmas, and the cultural artefacts left behind by our dying shopping centres and high streets. Mince pies and refreshments provided!
We will convene at the Beanbag Cinema before setting off on our trails...
The Beanbag Cinema is a micro-cinema venue situated on the ground floor with a gender-neutral restroom. Please get in touch with any questions about accessibility. Doors will open at 1.45pm, with the tour beginning shortly after 2pm. This is a strictly 18+ event.
Normal Cinema Club is supported by FilmHubNI and wishes to thank Derbhla McDermott and @abedehistory for their collaboration, and the Belfast Film Festival for their continued support.
