"Music has an undeniable power. A power to share stories, ideals and emotions, a power to bring people together to bring it to life and to listen. It can also isolate and lead to a lot of time in solitude for any musician, having nothing but the score, yourself, your instrument and a passion for exploration. This solitude and unlimited potential can also create agony and obsession, perhaps something that is less discussed with a performer's audience. This recital program is my final one in my time at ANAM and I wanted it to be not only full of pieces that I enjoy playing but also a demonstration of the flexibility of performance in the sense of solo and chamber works. Both forms are worthy, and I believe this program embodies the power, depth and connection that music possesses. Consisting of some of my all-time favourite showmanship pieces, a work composed by my friend Paul whom I adore and admire, and chamber works with incredible colleagues and friends, I am incredibly excited to present this program." — Lili Stephens
