About this Event

An Evening with Jack Gin: History, Film & The Boys of Kamloops

What happens when an engineer, entrepreneur and philanthropist becomes a filmmaker and “History Hunter”?

Join Jack Gin, director of the award-winning One of OURS: The Story of Private Fred Lee, for an entertaining and thought-provoking evening exploring his passion for uncovering stories from the past and bringing them to life through film.

A Vancouver-born and raised “east ender” and UBC engineer, Jack turned to filmmaking later in life. For the past six years, he has been developing his next film, The Boys of Kamloops, and this special event will offer audiences a preview of his work to date.

Rather than a traditional lecture, Jack has planned the evening in a lively talk-show format, joined by Sonny Wong of Hamazaki Wong for conversation, stories, and reflections.

Guests will also enjoy a special preview of The Boys of Kamloops, ahead of its planned release next year.

Spend an evening with a passionate History Hunter and discover the stories behind the stories.

This is a free event, but tickets are required. Reserve yours today!

Doors: 5:00 p.m. | Talk begins: 5:30 p.m.

Donations gratefully accepted at the door with all proceeds to the Victoria Chinatown Museum Society.
