Join us at The People’s Room of Mobile for an intimate evening where great food and original music come together. Singer-songwriter J.P. Sly will take the stage for a night of live music while Chef Rob Varner of Sheepshead Eats prepares a special dinner created just for the occasion. Drinks will be sold separately. Only 30 total seats will be available for this event, so make sure to get your tickets ASAP!
John Paul Sylvester, AKA J.P. Sly, is a Mobile-based singer-songwriter whose love of music began early. Born just outside Nashville and raised in a music-filled home, J.P. has been writing songs since childhood. He recently brought those songs into the studio for his SelfTitled Debut EP, marking an exciting new chapter in a lifelong passion for songwriting. When he isn’t performing around the Mobile Bay Area, J.P. is pursuing a Master of Arts in English at the University of South Alabama.
Providing dinner for the evening is Chef Rob Varner, whose love of cooking grew from time spent in the kitchen with his father. A Mobile native, Rob followed that passion to Boston, where he attended Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts and graduated in 2011. His culinary career later took him to New Orleans, where he worked at James Beard Award-winning Restaurant August. Today, as the chef behind Sheepshead Eats, Rob brings that experience to the table through thoughtfully prepared food meant to be shared and enjoyed.
For this special evening, Chef Rob will serve Pig & Grits featuring braised pork shoulder, white cheddar stone-ground grits, grilled asparagus and bourbon-cane syrup jus, followed by S’mores Bread Pudding with graham cracker crumble and toasted marshmallow fluff.
