Bryan Joseph Kuhn (BJK) has been working towards bringing this idea to life for ten years and it’s finally time to do so.
Come on out to Artists' Collective of Aurora, on November 13th for a truly unique Mental Health Music event of songs, stories and insights. “An Evening With BJK” will feature Bryan Joseph Kuhn playing acoustic guitar and piano based ballads from his forthcoming brand new record, titled, “The Cope and Hope Sessions”. He will be joined by two amazing local musicians. Olivia Kics will be playing the upright bass and Steven Wilson will be playing piano.
Within the show, Bryan will be interviewed by Dr. Matthew Glowiak, of Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School, as they discuss the meanings and lyrics behind the songs and share mental health insights, tips and coping mechanisms that can help those suffering from depression, anxiety and other mental health conditions.
NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) will have a representative there to partner with Bryan on spreading a message of awareness and support.
Understanding. Empathy. Knowledge. Strength. Do you have a loved one who battles mental illness? If so, this conversation could assist you in navigating the life difficulties that come with supporting someone dealing with mental health issues.
There will be an opening act who will be playing a 30 minute set at the outset to kick things off. They will also share the inspirations and stories of their own original songs. That artist will be announced soon, as well.
So, come on out and celebrate positive mental health with us as we meet as a community to help and support each other and gain knowledge to combat the maladies that we fight against when living with mental illness.
Here’s the full track listing for the record which Bryan will play in its entirety with other local musicians joining him on stage. He’ll be sharing the studio versions and full lyrics of each song in the lead up to the event.
