Don't miss a free cultural round table where rhythms meet stories! Experience the magic of percussion live and get to chat with the amazing Boris Sichon in person. It's a laid-back vibe, perfect for music lovers and curious minds alike. Come through and feel the beat! Boris Sichon. Boris will introduce us to his incredible collection of instruments from around the world, teach us percussion rhythms, and lead us in a drum circle.
The Cultural Roundtable is a free event, open to everyone interested in arts, culture and heritage in Port Coquitlam. Light refreshments provided. Space is limited; please register in advance.
Boris Sichon was born in Ukraine, wherein he finished Musical High School, in the study of percussion instruments. In St.Petersburg he continued his musical education in the Academy of Music. During his studies he started working in the St.Petersburg Symphony Orchestra, where he worked with well known Russian conductors such as Yevgeny Mravinsky, Shostakovich, Badchan, Karapetian and many others. When Boris came to Canada in 2004 he began performing right away, leading workshops, participating in Festivals (Vancouver Folk, Comox Music Fest, Vancouver Island Folk, Edmonton and etc..), playing solo as well as with Yungchen Lhamo, Pavlo, Uzume Taiko…
