About this Event
From Annie Meyers-Shyer, the celebrated creator of @ThisOakHouse, this thoughtful and thoroughly instructive guide to home renovation and interior design is the culmination of a years-long project to create a home. Filled with practical advice and inspiring beauty, This Oak House is perfect for design enthusiasts, lovers of old houses, and anyone undertaking their own home project.
Step inside the historic Los Angeles family home of Annie Meyers-Shyer to discover what it really takes to renovate an old house, preserve its charm, and create the home you’ve always dreamed of. Evocative storytelling and over 150 gorgeous photographs of the finished interiors weave together to create a visually rich and immersive experience.
What began as a just-for-fun Instagram account documenting the renovation of her family’s house quickly became an unexpected phenomenon, captivating a loyal following thanks to Annie’s candid insight into the realities of curating a unique space, her thorough approach to home design, and her refined and timeless style. Now, in this one-of-a-kind book, Annie opens her doors for the first time to share the full journey:
- Original floor plans, architect’s sketches, design mood boards, and paint swatches make this a functional resource for your own remodel.
- No detail is overlooked—Annie offers actionable advice and thoughtful recommendations on everything from kitchen islands to paint color matching (don’t do it!) and outlet placement.
- Included are tips for arranging flowers, styling a bookcase, and setting seasonal tablescapes, as well as the recipe for the famous Meyers family hot fudge sauce—all those thoughtful touches that bring a home to life.
- A comprehensive resource section shares all of Annie's suggestions for lighting companies, paint brands, furniture shops, linens, auction houses, key search terms, and more.
Aspirational and practical, This Oak House is at once a behind-the-scenes guide to home renovation, a beautiful interiors book, and one family’s heartfelt story of making a charming old house into their forever home.
