Shreveport Little Theatre is pleased to announce an event with acclaimed playwright Josefina López on October 3, 2026, for Real Women, Real Stories: An Evening with Josefina López. Sponsored by the LSUS Foundation and the Ruth Herring Noel Endowed Chair, this event aligns with our upcoming production of Real Women Have Curves and our recognition of National Hispanic Heritage Month.Real Women Have Curves is a landmark in contemporary American theatre, exploring themes of resilience, identity, and self-determination through the experiences of five Latina women in East Los Angeles. López’s visit offers our community a direct opportunity to engage with her work and perspective.
On October 3, López will share her insights on the development and impact of Real Women Have Curves, and discuss why its themes remain relevant today. This is a valuable opportunity for both our theatre and the broader community to hear directly from the playwright.
We thank the LSUS Foundation and Ruth Herring Noel Endowed Chair for making this event possible for Northwest Louisiana. I encourage our community to take advantage of this opportunity to engage with the personal history and cultural context behind the play ahead of our October 15 opening at Shreveport Little Theatre.
