An A to Z selection of medieval and modern bench end figures is presented, revealing the stories they tell and the creativity, humour and symbolism carved into Suffolk’s church interiors.

Robert Halliday has worked in various posts involved with the study and preservation of history. He holds a long-standing interest in East Anglian history, with a particular enthusiasm for churches. He has published several books, and articles in popular and academic journals.
