About this Event

Thank you for your interest in attending this year's Regional Meeting for Amnesty International members in the GTA and beyond. All members of AI are welcome!! We are planning an exciting and inspirational day for you.

All sessions in Plenary, with lots of opportunities to connect with other members and groups, learn, and take action.


Preliminary Draft Agenda

9:30am | Doors open for registration and refreshments

10:00am | Welcome & Land Acknowledgement

10:15am – 11:45am | Hudbay Minerals Panel: "How We Won the Landmark Hudbay Minerals Lawsuits in Canada, and at What Cost" with special guests, Murray Klippenstein and Cory Wanless

11:45am - 12:15pm | Play Reading of "The Last Walk of Adolfo Ich" with special guests from Aluna Theatre

12:15pm – 1:15pm | Lunch (Time to mingle, sign petitions, and meet your fellow activists from the GTA and beyond)

1:15pm – 2:45pm | Keynote Speaker: Alex Neve

2:45pm – 3:00pm | Health Break

3:00pm – 4:30pm | Presentation on Current Amnesty Campaign Priority

4:30pm – 5:00pm | Actions / Solidarity Actions

Lunch
Lunch will be provided and will be vegetarian, so there will be no meat, fish or seafood options. If you require a vegan option, please indicate this on the registration form, along with any other dietary considerations, such as food allergies, and we will do our best to accommodate.

The deadline to register is March 28, 2026, but tickets are limited, so don't wait!
There will be no refunds on tickets.

Getting to Oakham House at the Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU)
TMU is conveniently accessible via three major TTC subway stations including, Queen, TMU (formerly Dundas), and College, as well as numerous streetcar routes. There is also a number of parking facilities and bike rings around TMU.

Parking
There is no on-site parking for Oakham House at TMU, but being located in the heart of downtown Toronto, there is ample parking surrounding the facility. TMU offers parking to visitors and members of the TMU community at the Bookstore Garage located on the west side of Victoria Street between Dundas and Gould Streets, and at the Pitman Hall Student Residence located on the west side of Mutual Street between Gerrard and Gould Streets.

There is also city parking available on the west side of Church Street between Gould and Dundas Streets. These are all paid parking lots. The rates are posted at the kiosks and they are the average prices for the city.

Accessibility
TMU makes every effort to ensure the inclusion of campus and community members with disabilities in all aspects of their operations. Current accommodations include two elevators, accessible washrooms, and automatic door openers.
