Tucker Fuller: Americana features violinist Moises Cunha and pianist Justin Snyder in a program of music for violin and piano.
Written specifically for these performers, Fuller’s new sonata, Americana, explores four moments of American instability: the Great Depression, the AIDS crisis, a 1970s summer gathering, and the turmoil surrounding present-day immigration raids. Across four movements, grandeur, longing, flirtation, and unrest reveal lives shaped by hope and uncertainty. Presented alongside Philip Glass’s Sonata for Violin and Piano, the concert pairs a new work with a defining voice of contemporary American music.
