The Lancaster Museum of Art and History (MOAH) invites the Antelope Valley’s Deaf and Hard of Hearing community, as well as their friends and family, to participate in the American Sign Language tour for our latest exhibitions. The tour will be led by curatorial staff, accompanied by an ASL interpreter.

Barrio Science: Chicanismo and Speculative Experiments in Art celebrates the beauty, creativity, and resourcefulness found in the barrio through artwork that explores identity, healing, spirituality, and the often-overlooked labor of these urban communities. The nine artists in the exhibition experiment with everyday materials and imagery from Chicano/a/x and Latine culture in ways that prompt the viewer to ask, “what if?” The show features work by Abel Alejandre, Alfonso Gonzalez Jr., Felicia 'Fe' Montes, Jaime Muñoz, noé olivas, Rubén Ortiz-Torres, Verónica Preciado, Natalia Rocafuerte, and Jacqueline Valenzuela.
David Alabo: I found us in the future… constructs worlds that feel at once familiar and fantastical. Ghanaian-Moroccan artist Alabo creates immersive, Afrofuturist narratives through vibrant digital environments and bronze sculpture that blend mythology, folklore, and possible futures for African diasporic communities. The exhibition explores the notion of relics of future pasts, imagined artifacts from civilizations yet to come and remnants of alternate timelines. Together, the works invite viewers to consider how future societies might interpret the traces we leave behind, expanding ideas of dominant histories and possibilities beyond linear time.

Daisy Patton: Flowers, Fruits, and Birds explores the intersection of personal memory and intergenerational histories. Drawing from found photographs, archival imagery, and decorative traditions, Patton transforms portraits through vibrant floral interventions and embellishment, reintroducing women from the past as figures suspended between eras. The exhibition title references a passage from The Second Sex by Simone de Beauvoir, in which women are metaphorically associated with flowers, fruits, and birds. Patton reclaims these symbols, revealing them not only as markers of beauty and fragility, but also as emblems of growth, resilience, and creation.
Emanations: Light, Growth, and Renewal in the Lancaster Museum of Art and History Collection showcases artworks from MOAH’s permanent collection, including paintings that radiate light, glowing photography, undulating sculpture, and works on paper depicting growth. From ethereal explorations of color and transparency to bold prints pulsing with energy, each piece offers literal and metaphorical interpretations of illumination, emergence, and transformation.
