Join the Latah County Historical Society for a special one-hour screening of the PBS series The American Revolution with an expert Q&A to follow on Monday, September 28th at 6pm at the Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre. We'll discuss who the Declaration of Independence excluded and where we are 250 years later with Gia Paul, Mario Pile, and Dr. Elyssa Ford. Gia Paul is an enrolled member of the Nimiipuu/ Nez Perce Tribe with 32 years of experience as an Idaho educator. She works to educate and preserve her culture on behalf of everyone and is committed to witnessing a thriving Nimiipuu and healthy landscape.
Mario Pile is the Student Ombuds and a Retention Specialist at the University of Idaho. He previously served as Director of the Black and African American Cultural Center and has dedicated his career to student advocacy, leadership, and inclusion. A 20-year military veteran, Mario holds degrees in Criminology and Educational Leadership and is currently pursuing an Ed.D. in Learning, Leadership, and Innovation at the University of Idaho.
Elyssa Ford is an associate professor of history at Washington State University. She is a social and cultural historian who studies identity, gender, and sexuality in US history. She has written two books about rodeo in the American West and published about women’s fight for the right to vote.
