American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor Course

This course provides training and certification in the American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor Course, enabling successful participants to instruct lifeguarding courses at their home facility (must be a location approved by the American Red Cross).

Blended Learning courses require at-home computer and internet access. You will be emailed a link to gain access to the online portion at least one week in advance of the class start date.

To successfully complete the course, you must provide your own course materials (lifeguard and lifeguard instructor manual), attend all class sessions, complete all online learning modules, demonstrate competency in all required skills and scenarios, and pass the final written exams with a minimum grade of 80 percent.

Upon successful completion, you will receive certification as an American Red Cross Lifeguarding instructor. This class does not include basic-level lifeguarding certification renewal.

Friday, December 6: 7-10pm

Saturday, December 7: 12pm-8pm

Sunday, December 8: 10am-8pm

• Possess a basic level certification in lifeguarding/CPR/AED/first aid
• Be at least 17 years of age
• Successfully complete blended-learning portion of course before attending in-person portion
• Pass a skills session, administered on the first day
• Supply your own participant level lifeguarding manual and lifeguard instructor manual + 3-ring binder. This can be printed or purchased online on the Red Cross store.

This course involves very challenging physical competency throughout the class. It also requires participants to successfully pass a written test. If you foresee a need for any special accommodations with any of these, please contact us prior to the beginning of the course, if possible, to discuss possible accommodations (i.e. having the test read aloud, accommodations for health concerns, etc.).

Refunds (less EventBrite fees) are available up to 7 days in advance of the class. No refunds or credits will be issued within 7 days of the class. Refunds are only available on your Eventbrite account. Refunds will not be issued to to unsuccessful participation.
